You have to be quick ....

.... snapping passing sites from inside a moving coach !

I had read about Montefiore's windmill in the book 'Jerusalem', by Simon Sebag Montefiore, and had promptly forgotten about it .... until I glanced out of the coach window, and there it was.  The memory of having read about it 'clicked' and I managed to lift the camera and got a very quick picture.

According to this book, it was built about 1860, (funded by Moses Montefiore, the great, great uncle of the author) to grind flour so that the Jerusalem Jews could make their own bread.  It is situated just outside the old city, near the Zion Gate.

I have so much to write about Jerusalem itself ... I'd better leave that until another post.
