This statue says it all really. Jesus had been arrrested; the high priest was interregating him to try and force a confession of guilt from him, but no need ... Jesus agreed with Caiaphas, that he was indeed the 'Son of Man'.
One of the disciples, Peter, was waiting in the courtyard to see what would happen, and a servant and others accused him of being one of Jesus's followers, but he denied it, thinking to save himself. Jesus had predicted that Peter would deny any knowledge of him three times before cock-crow in the morning ... and he did.
