More books I've been reading ....

... do I read anything except books about Africa ?!   Not often ...

This book with the strange title could almost have been written by myself; the author and I share so many Kenya experiences and thoughts, many of which I've already blogged about in the past !

She writes about her first return to Kenya after about 40 years absence to go on an organised safari with friends.   So many pages made me think "Gosh, that's exactly as I did" or "She thinks the same way as me about Africa's future".

She writes about her Pope John Paul moment, as I did (click the link) .... and also the bra-less moment, as I did (same link).    I'd love to meet this lady.

The other book I've read this week is this one:-

Its a mystery story, not travel/autobiography as is 'Safari Ants ...' but mostly set in Kenya, with odd chapters in S. Africa and elsewhere.   I was enthralled .... and although it was clear 'who dun-it' I didn't anticipate the twist in the tail.

There are so many old European owned houses in Kenya that only just now being renovated and conserved .... see  https://www.facebook.com/happyvalleytrust/

'Old Africa' magazine also has articles about some of them, and the house called 'Mbabati', (if it actually existed other than as a location for a murder mystery), would be a suitable candidate for conservation.   We had friends who rented a huge old colonial house at Njoro, and the old missionary house we lived in at Maseno, would both be interesting houses for the Happy Valley Trust to record and maybe conserve........ I must send them photos !
