Sylvanus update, and some Stapelia !

I just today heard that Sylvanus is still attending the Pandipieri clinic three times a week for his ulcer treatment, which is excellent.   I had feared he might default, but I should have had more faith !   Unfortunately, I wasn't told how his leg is progressing, but will try and find out more.

Its amazing the old photos I am finding this week; this plant was growing in one of our Kenya gardens.   Its a variety of Stapelia, probably gigantea, and the flowers stink like rotting meat, so attracting flies which act as pollinators.

And another species of Stapelia, with flowers arranged in a sort of ball on top of the stem, rather than singly.    This one was growing in dry bush country, not our garden.   They seems to prefer dry, stony ground.
