All our luggage is packed; tomorrow we travel to Heathrow for the flight in the evening. Quite exciting ... only the third flight in my life .... the first two having been to and back from Aden in 1966 in a DC-7-C, a propellor plane. (Father-in-law was posted there, seconded to the R.A.F.) Tomorrow we fly on a VC-10 .... the modern Jumbo Jet.
I wonder what it will be like to set foot in Africa ? It has been my ambition since a child, when my grandfather used to tell me about the early explorers in the 'dark' continent. I'd read Livingstone, Elspeth Huxley, Gerald Durrell and of course, 'Out of Africa', and seen the 'Born Free' film recently ....as well as reading Joy Adamsons books. I don't suppose for a minute it'll be like any of those books .... but one can hope."
